Park AmenitiesĪlthough there were more than 10,000 such carousels in operation in the 1920's, The Lighthouse Park Carousel is one of less than 100 in use today. ![]() It was also called Morris Point during the Colonial period. Old Maps show it as Five Mile Point called that because that is the distance between it and the center of New Haven. The New Haven Lighthouse at Lighthouse Point in New Haven is located at the Eastern point of New Haven Harbor. Today the beacon from the New Haven Light House at Lighthouse Point is dark, but the tower remains, greeting ships from around the world to New Haven. The Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse is not located in the park, but just outside at 4931 South Peninsula Drive.For additional information on the Volusia County Marine Science Center, please visit.The Volusia County Marine Science Center is located on Lighthouse Drive within the park and is a wonderful place to visit with a variety of aquariums and marine educational exhibits. The Coastal Team will continue to work diligently to make repairs and provide updates when additional repairs are made. Please respect the barricades that are in place which represent areas that are not safe for public access. Volusia County manages the park under a lease it maintains with this state agency.ħ5 feet of the North Jetty Fishing Deck has been reopened to the public. The property is owned by the State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection. Park amenities are handicapped accessible and dog-friendly. Special park features include an 800’ jetty deck and dog-friendly swimming beach area located along the park inlet shoreline. There is a nature trail in the forested area in the center of the park that leads to a scenic observation tower overlooking the Halifax River. Lighthouse Point Park is a 52-acre inlet park located along the northern shoreline of Ponce de Leon Inlet. The park has elevated wooden boardwalks, restrooms and picnic pavilions that are available for reservation. Pets are never allowed on the Atlantic Ocean beach. Pets are not allowed on elevated park boardwalks after 10 a.m. There is a $25 application fee and the form can be submitted via email to are allowed on the inlet shore beach area and must be leashed at all times. Trailers are not permitted on weekends and holidays without prior authorization from the Coastal Division through a Special Event Permit.
